Tunisia: “Syphax Airlines” authorized to operate from all Tunisian airports

Private carrier “Syphax Airlines” was allowed to operate from all airports in Tunisia, after a working session held on Saturday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport, Abdelkarim Harouni and in the presence of the CEOs of civil Aviation, the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports, Tunisair Group and Syphax Airlines.

A statement issued Saturday by the Ministry of Transport also indicated that Syphax Airlines is called to further study the operation of the Tunis-Carthage Airport as part of complementarity with Tunisair, to avoid competition that could undermine the national fleet.

It was also agreed to sign an “interline” convention between the two airlines, offering both parties wider opportunities of cooperation through mutual recognition of plane tickets.

In the same press release, emphasis was placed on the need to coordinate the efforts of both companies, to prepare the national fleet to face competition from foreign companies, in view of the Open Skies (Open Sky).
