Tunisia: IFC increases its assistance to 150 MUSD

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, will increase from 100 to 150 MUSD per year, its contribution to funding private investment projects in Tunisia, said its President, Lars Thunell.

During a meeting held with Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Riadh Bettaieb, on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund-IMF-(from April 19 to 22 current Washington), he emphasized the willingness of the IFC to diversify its areas of intervention in the country, to cover the areas of training for employment, finance, tourism and information and communication technology.

IFC also plans to set up a pilot project for youth employment in Tunisia and to provide assistance to the country so that it benefits from experiences of Eastern European countries in democratic transition.

Both sides reviewed preparations for the organization a conference on partnership opportunities, trade and investment between the Tunisia and the United States to be held April 27 in Washington, in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce.
