Tunisia will dedicate 1.510 million hectares of land for cereals under the harvest 2012/2013, with 877, 000 hectares of land to be reserved for the northern regions, while 633,000 hectares are planned for the Centre and the South.
During the same period of the previous crop, 1,343.000 hectares were dedicated to cereals, with 688 000 hectares of durum wheat, 145,000 hectares of wheat, 655 000 hectares of barley and 12 000 hectares of triticale.
These areas contain about 93,000 hectares of irrigated cereals including 51,000 hectares in the North and approximately 42,000 hectares in central and southern regions.
