For the French, Tunisia remains a preferred destination, regularly ranking among the top 3 or top 5 most visited countries.
In September 2025, Tunisia was ranked the 3rd most visited country by the French, even though it recorded a slight decrease of 12.2% compared to August, where it also held the 3rd place.
These figures come from the “baromètre des destinations” (Destination Barometer), published monthly by the leisure platform Orchestra for L’Écho touristique, which compiles sales made by travelers through travel agencies, whether physical or online.
Tunisia attracts French tourists thanks to its affordability, the diversity of its offerings, ranging from beach holidays to cultural tours, as well as its geographical proximity, which reduces travel time and transport costs.
In September 2025, the most visited country by the French remains mainland France, meaning the entire continental French territory and its neighboring regions.
It thus retains its first place in the ranking, followed by Spain, which recorded a 15% increase compared to the previous month.
In fourth place, Egypt continues its surge with a remarkable increase of 32.3% in September.
Other destinations also show significant performances: Italy, Portugal, and Japan recorded the best growth of the month, each around 40%.
Overall, the barometer specifies that travel sales made by physical and online agencies in France increased by 22% in September compared to September 2024.
The market thus seems to be timidly recovering its color, after three months of decline (-16.7% in June, -8% in July, and -5.5% in August).
This recovery comes despite an unstable political and geopolitical context, which French tourists seem to be gradually getting used to.
