Tunisia about to buy soft milling wheat and feed barley in tender

Tunisia’s state grains agency is believed to have reached an agreement to buy around 50,000 tons of soft milling wheat and 50,000 tons of animal feed barley to be sourced from optional origins in an international tender that closed on Thursday, European traders said.

The purchase is still subject to final confirmation.

The wheat was said to have been bought in two 25,000 ton consignments, one from trading house Casillo at an estimated $278.89 a ton c&f and one from Glencore at $279.88 a ton c&f, traders said.

The barley was also bought in two 25,000 ton consignments, one from trading house Dreyfus at an estimated $237.87 a ton c&f and one from Glencore at $240.23 a ton c&f, traders said.

The wheat and barley were both sought for shipment between Nov. 20 and Dec. 15, depending on origin selected.

In its last reported soft wheat tender on Oct. 6, Tunisia’s state grains agency purchased an estimated 92,000 tons.
