Tunisia’s current account deficit widened further in the first two months of 2022 to 1.16 billion dinars, compared to 878 million dinars a year earlier, according to the Central Bank of Tunisia.
The balance of current operations has therefore worsened by 32%, despite the good performance of labor income (expat remittances) which reached 1.5 billion dinars on March 20, 2022, against 1.28 billion a year earlier.
In addition, the level of foreign exchange reserves stood at 22,700 million dinars or 124 days of imports, March 29, 2022, against 23,313 million or 133 days at the end of 2021.
