Tunisia: Debt of Les Ciments de Bizerte exceeds 150 million dinars in 2024

The total revenue of Les Ciments de Bizerte saw a significant decline of 65.5% in 2024, dropping to 31.4 million dinars compared to 91.3 million dinars in 2023.

The cement manufacturer did not record any export sales or make any investments in 2024. This is due to the suspension of clinker production throughout the year, caused by the unavailability of petroleum coke, the sole source of energy required to operate the kiln.

The company’s financial difficulties prevented it from importing this essential material.

Given the ongoing financial crisis, the company has been unable to meet its obligations to suppliers and service its bank debts.

By the end of December 2024, the total bank debt of the company increased by 5.7 million dinars compared to December 31, 2023, due to the accumulation of late payment and rescheduling interest.

This brought the outstanding debt to 122.9 million dinars, in addition to management credits of 28.5 million dinars, resulting in a total debt of 151.4 million dinars.
