Tunisia: STEG reports 1 billion TD of delinquencies of which 40% to public companies

The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Corporation (STEG) announces a slate of one billion dinars of unpaid debt owed to its customers, 40% of which are public companies, announced its CEO, Moncef Harrabi.

In statements to the weekly “Al-Anwar”, he added that all the districts of the company have recently developed a quantified timetable to improve the collection of arrears.

He also warned against the phenomenon of electricity smuggling by trafficking the meter or by illegal connection to the STEG network, announcing the implementation in the near future of repressive measures by the Ministries of Interior and Energy .
