Tunisia: Expat remittances reach record of 5.2 billion dinars

Despite the health crisis, remittances from Tunisians residing abroad (TRE) are not decreasing. They far exceed tourism revenues or development aid.

These remittances saw an increase in November for the fourth consecutive month. At the end of November, they recorded a growth of 10.5% in dinars, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

Figures from the issuing institution indicate that Tunisia has garnered during the first eleven months of the year a record 5.2 billion dinars of expat remittances, compared to 4.7 billion a year earlier, an increase of nearly 500 million dinars.
