Tunisia: Filling rate of dams rises to 25.7% on January 14

The total filling level of dams improved to 25.7% on January 14, compared with 23.7% on January 1, 2025, thanks to recent rainfall, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Agricultural Observatory (ONAGRI).

In fact, the day’s inflows amounted to 39.8 million m³, bringing the current stock to 603.069 million m³.

According to the Observatory, the filling rate varies from region to region. The dams in the north have a filling rate of 29.9%, with water reserves of 547.708 million m³.

Dams in the Center and Cap-Bon were only filled to 10.5% (47.474 million m3) and 12.8% (7.887 million m3) respectively.

The recent rains are a breath of fresh air for water reserves and the agricultural sector as a whole, according to ONAGRI. Tunisia’s dams recorded a significant improvement in their supplies.

Dams in the north collected 39.6 million m3 in a single day, out of an estimated total inflow of 39.831 million m3, according to the same source.

The Sidi El Barrak dam, with a filling level of 47%, is in first place in terms of storage (134.453 million m3), followed by the Sidi Salem dam (100.490 million m3, with a filling level of 17%), the Sejnane dam (45.642 million m3, with a filling level of 34%), the Bouhertma dam (37.591 million m3, with a filling level of 26%) and the Sidi Saad dam (21.393 million m3, with a filling level of 16%).

The total use of water from the dams during the day was 3.912 million m3.
