Tunisia: foreign exchange reserves boosted by 15 days of imports in single day

After recording a sharp decline to 115 days of imports on April 14, 2022, Tunisia’s foreign exchange reserves improved the next day by 15 additional days to 130 days. They almost returned to their level of the beginning of the year.

Indeed, foreign exchange reserves went up by 2.75 billion dinars from 21.5 billion dinars on April 14 to 24.27 billion dinars on 15 April 2022.

This improvement in reserves results from the receipt of the $ 700-million loan provided by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). This loan contracted by the BCT in the name and on behalf of the State was approved by Presidential Decree No. 2022-369 of April 12, 2022 published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Tunisia (JORT) No. 40 dated April 12, 2012.
