Oil field of “Halk el Menzel” located off the Gulf of Hammamet began preliminary production on January 7, 2021, through the well “HELM 07”, with a daily flow of 5,300 barrels of oil, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines announced Tuesday.
According to estimates by the Tunisian company TOPIC, which holds the Halk el Menzel concession, the average daily production of this oilfield should reach 6,000 barrels of oil.
The ministry also said that work is continuing to finalize the drilling of the two other wells under this concession during the first quarter of 2021, which will bring the production capacity of this concession to 11 thousand barrels/day.
The drilling activity of the 03 HELM 05, 06 and 07 wells had started since June 2018. Drilling operations have been suspended since September 2018 in order to settle the legal situation of this concession.
The legal situation was settled under Law no. 2019-74 approving the agreement and its annexes relating to the Halk el Menzel operating concession and published in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT) on August 14, 2019. Drilling activity resumed on October 6, 2020.
