Tunisia: inflation rate maintained at 4.2% for the third consecutive month

The Executive Board of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) noted at its meeting Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Tunis that the average rate of inflation did not exceed 4.2% in the third quarter against an average of 5.5% in the first half.

This is due to relaxation of pressure on prices of food products, including fresh produce, in relation to, among others, the weakening of demand resulting from the decline of tourism activity on the one hand, and price stabilization of controlled products, on the other hand, knowing, moreover, that core inflation (excluding fresh and controlled products) remains at high levels (5.6% at end-September against 5.3% one year earlier).
