The balance of trade between China and Angola from January to November 2012 reached a record figure of 3.5 trillion Angolan Kwanza (US$ 1 = 100 Kwanza), PANA reported, quoting the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP).
It said the details were given here Tuesday by the Chinese ambassador to Angola, Gao Kexiang, at a ceremony marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The diplomat said the figure was higher than the trade receipts from the corresponding period in 2011 and almost 1,000 times as big as the figures of 30 years ago when two countries began their diplomatic relations.
Ambassador Kexiang said that over the 30 years, there has been a deepening and consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries, saying that over the period China had appreciated Angola’s effort at the consolidation of peace, national reconciliation and reconstruction, with Angola supporting issues of interests to China.
The ambassador stressed that the Sino-Angolan strategic partnership, established in November 2010, gained a new boost and opened a space for broader bilateral relations.
He stated that the two countries attained excellent results in domains of finance, trade and energy, indicating that the successes had made Angola one of China’s major partners in Africa.
China and Angola signed a joint communiqué in January 1983, paving the way for the establishment of strong diplomatic relations.
