Tunisia: Leoni denies plans to shut down, threatens to relocate to Morocco

Leoni, a specialist in the manufacture of automotive cables, based in Mateur, denied any intention of the company to close its plants in the region of Bizerte.

The denial of this information, a few days ago, reported by the Tunisian Prime Minister was made by Mohamed Larbi Rouis, Leoni Group Managing Director.

However, the latter directly accused, in a statement to TAP, the UTT Union of Ismail Sahbani of spreading rumors about an improbable relocation from Mateur to Sousse, threatening however to relocate from Tunisia to Romania and Morocco.

“These rumors serve only those who spread it” in allusion to the UTT which seeks to pressure the government of Jbali. The CEO of Leoni said in conclusion: “if this situation persists, the German investor could be forced to relocate to Romania or Morocco,” reported TAP which said it had received a statement from Leoni.
