Tunisia: lifting of bank secrecy will bring 18 billion dinars to state coffers

Entered into force on January 1, 2015, the measure for lifting of bank secrecy has found positive feedback from businessmen who were quick to inform the tax authorities all the data that will facilitate control operations including banking and postal documents.

According to Director of Studies and Tax Legislation, Imed Zaiyer, quoted by the daily Assabah, the administration has told all insurance companies that their financial, postal and banking data will be protected, will enjoy privacy and will not inaccessible to third parties.

He indicated that the expected tax revenues from this measure in 2015 will amount to more than 18 billion dinars, which will certainly replenish the coffers of the state.
