Tunisia: loss of 500,000 French tourists in 2011

Tunisia lost about 500,000 of its French customers in 2011 compared to 2010 which is a record never known before.

Indeed, the French, who accounted for more than one fifth of tourists in 2010, were down 42% last year.

However, this decline has not affected only the French market; the German market also registered a significant drop equivalent to 41% of tourist flows to Tunisia with 270,000 tourists against 458,600 in 2010.

For 2012, Tunisia aims to recover the lost customers and especially European tourists who were the first to flee the destination of Tunisia following the events of the Revolution.
