Tunisia: Lower investments reported in regions (4months)

The first four months of 2012 were characterized by an 18.2% fall in investment reported in regional development areas with 534.5 MTD against 653.2 MTD in the same period of 2011.

The share of these areas from of all governorates decreased lined from 57.5% to 43.4% during the first four months of 2012.

The decline recorded in reported in investment in regional development areas is mainly attributed to the governorate of Jendouba whose reported investments reached 39.6 MTD against 94.4 MTD during the first four months 2012.

Similarly, the investments reported in the governorate of Kasserine fell from 74.2 MTD to 15.8 MTD.

Investments reported in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid decreased from 52.1 to 31.5 MTD in 2012 and so did investments reported in the governorate of Tozeur, which reached 12.3 MTD against 23.6 MTD in the first four months of 2011.

In contrast to these regions, the investments reported in Zaghouan reached 135.7 MTD against 69.2 MTD during the first four months of 2011.

Similarly, investments reported in the regional development areas of the governorate of Bizerte increased from 6.1 MTD to 54.5 MTD in the first four months 2012, mainly following the announcement of the establishment of a manufacturing unit of diapers for 21.0 MTD and reporting of the creation of a manufacturing unit of sanitary napkins for 11.0 MTD.
