Tunisia: M’dhilla plant gradually resumes activities

The M’dhilla plant of the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) gradually resumed its activities after a three-month work stoppage.

The plant’s triple super phosphate (TSP) production unit has restarted, according to GCT Director General.

The other production units of TSP, phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid will resume their activities early next week, said the same source.

The M’dhilla plant had stopped production last November because of sit-ins observed in the region, particularly in late 2011, bringing about a lack of supply in dried phosphate coming from production units of the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG).

The annual production capacity of M’dhilla’s TSP plant is estimated at 460 thousand tons dedicated to exports.
