Tunisia: Mecachrome inaugurates third facility in Fouchana

Mecachrome Tunisia today inaugurated a new building at its Fouchana site, located within the El Mghira Aeronautical Park. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Industry and the French Ambassador to Tunisia.

With this expansion, the Mecachrome Group strengthens its footprint in Tunisia through three strategically positioned subsidiaries in the aerospace sector:

– Mecachrome Fouchana: Specializing in fine aluminum and hard metal sheet metalwork, this facility annually supplies 2.5 million parts to its main client, AIRBUS ATLANTIQUE, as well as other industrial partners.

The newly inaugurated building will focus on producing sheet metal blanks, with the goal of doubling production capacity to 5 million parts per year to support increasing aerospace program demands, particularly for AIRBUS.

–  Mecachrome Sousse (TechniprotecMetal): Specializing in surface treatment and painting, this subsidiary delivers 4 million parts annually to various subcontractors in Tunisia’s aerospace value chain. Currently undergoing expansion, the site will soon reach a capacity of 5.7 million parts per year.

–  Mecachrome Jammel (2AS): Acquired by the group in August 2024, this facility focuses on welding and electrical cabinet assembly. An ambitious development plan aims to double its floor space and production capacity by late 2025.

The three Tunisian sites currently employ 1,200 workers, with plans to create 300 additional jobs by 2026.
