The Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC) has been selected to support Tunisian companies in their internationalization and export activities to African markets as part of the first component of the Qawafel project, the Agency of the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII) announced Thursday.
This 1st component aims to “support the strengthening, structuring and development of the Tunisian ecosystem for internationalization, contributing to the visibility of Tunisia and the emergence of Tunisian innovative initiatives on the priority markets of the African continent”, according to the agency.
“The five sectors selected by the QAWAFEL project – construction and related services, health and pharmaceuticals, higher education, agri-food and digital/technology (or other) – are, in our view, the most interesting sectors to develop in Africa and in which Tunisia has knowledge and expertise that are recognized on the continent,” said the TABC.
During this project, we will advocate and raise awareness of the need to internationalize Tunisian know-how in the five economic sectors with high growth potential in Africa, and we will pay particular attention to new companies with high potential that have never exported to Africa.
“These are companies or start-ups that have proven themselves on the local market and have a real need for support on a foreign market that they do not know, that of Africa”.
TABC has launched a call for applications to select SMEs and start-ups for its “TABC: Your House in Africa” program. The deadline for applications is August 15, 2024.
“TABC: Your House in Africa” aims to develop the export and internationalization of Tunisian companies and start-ups on the African market by opening up to high potential operators who have not yet exported to Africa.
The project consists of several phases, the first of which, which is the subject of this call for proposals, consists of the selection of 50 companies and start-ups in the sectors targeted by Qawafel.
In the next phase, 25 of these companies and start-ups will be selected to receive free support for one year on the Senegalese and DRC markets. Special attention will be given to green and/or women-led businesses.
