Tunisia: upgrading program unavailable to more than 60% of SMEs

Over 60% of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are not able to join the upgrading program (French: PMN), said Monia Saidi, Vice-President of the Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises (CONECT) at a press briefing held Thursday at the headquarters of the Confederation, pointing out that SMEs are facing several financial difficulties and are unable today to be part of the PMN because of the weakness of their own funds and the imbalance in their finances.

The vice president of CONECT called for the creation of an investment fund to finance and frame these companies so that they can increase their competitive capacities and access new markets.

Monia Saidi also called to change the laws in force, adjust them and make them more flexible to ensure that SMEs do not disappear.
