Tunisia: worsening of energy deficit

The primary energy balance for the year 2014 was characterized by the worsening of the energy deficit by 54% from 2.4 Mtoe in 2013 to 3.7 Mtoe in 2014.

According to the annual final report of ETAP, this is explained by the sharp decline of domestic primary energy resources by 12.8% (oil -11%, natural gas -15% and LPG -10%) against an increase in primary energy consumption by 5.7% (petroleum products + 10% and natural gas + 2.1%).

The energy independence rate increased from 72% in 2013 to 60% in 2014, i.e. a depreciation of 17%.
