Tunisian startups raise $24 million in 2024 

In 2024, Tunisian startups raised $24 million across 11 deals, ranking 11th in Africa, according to the latest report from Partech Africa.

However, the report notes a positive 56% increase in the number of investors showing a growing interest in Tunisian startups, reaching 25 investors compared to just 16 in 2023. 

In 2024, Tunisia was among the top five countries in terms of deals involving female founders. With 27%, it ranks just behind Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya and Cameroon, which lead in the percentage of startups founded by women. 

In 2024, Africa’s venture capital landscape shows encouraging signs, with countries such as Nigeria ($520 million across 103 deals), South Africa ($459 million/67 deals) and Egypt ($297 million/89 deals) leading the way. 

Kenya ($221m/59 deals) and Ghana ($102m/17 deals) followed. Morocco ranks sixth with $82m and 25 deals. 

Looking at the African market as a whole, the report highlights a relatively healthy venture capital sector that is approaching global performance levels. 

Indeed, the global venture capital market reached $314 billion in 2024, an increase of 3% over the previous year. 

According to the report, this growth was particularly driven by the explosion of artificial intelligence, with investments in AI increasing by 80% year-on-year.
