8th session of COREP council of ministers to open Wednesday in Kinshasa

The 8th ordinary meeting of the Council of the Ministers of the member-states of the regional fisheries commission of the Gulf of Guinea (COREP) will be held 20-23 February in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, official sources told PANA here.

The meeting will take stock of activities of the institution since the last meeting in July 2008 in the Congolese capital, Brazzaville.

It will also discuss the new plans to improve the dynamism of COREP.

The technical committee of the institution will hold its meeting 20-21 February, ahead of the ordinary session of the council of member-states ministers.

COREP was created in 1984 in Libreville, Gabon.

It is currently cash-strapped, among other problems, as many member-states have failed to pay their contribution.
