Construction of the first phase of the Mediterranean highway, stretching from Al Saloum, near the Egyptian border to Rass al-Jadir near the Tunisian-Libyan border, will soon kick off, according to the Libyan government.
The 400km first phase of the project will be executed by the Italian firm Salini Pregilio at a cost of 963 million euros.
The second phase will connect Rass al-Jadir and the Libyan city of Misrata.
