American company IBM (International Business Machines) announced on Monday in Tunis the launch of the first “Neutral Data Center” (database) in Tunisia and Francophone Africa.
This data center located in Enfidha (Sousse) will host the offer of business continuity and resiliency services (BCRS) to enable customers to protect their critical data, Mr. Tarek Zarg El Aioun, regional manager of IBM North and West Africa and CEO of IBM Tunisia said at a news conference.
It is, he said, the first data center that uses a Green IT approach and meets international safety standards and compliance in terms of telecom infrastructure standards.
Data center services are offered to banks, insurance companies, industrial companies and government institutions, even those that do not have IBM hardware.
Mrs. Selma Turki, IBM’s Global Technology Services Manager Middle East and Africa noted that with this solution, clients (companies, banks …) could recover after incidents (earthquakes, floods, social movements, power outages …) all their data hosted in the data center as soon as possible.
The Data Center also offers recovery services after computer incidents by offering backup solutions thanks to previously defined IT resources.
