European traders were quoted by Reuters as reporting on Wednesday that Tunisia’s state grain agency has issued an international tender to purchase around 125,000 tons of animal feed barley.
Bids for the tender must be submitted by November 27, 2025. The origin of the grain is optional.
The barley will be delivered in five shipments of 25,000 tons each, scheduled between December 2025 and February 15, 2026, depending on the selected origin.
Tunisia’s grain agency previously purchased about 75,000 tons of barley at $257 per ton, including freight and costs.
Traders noted that animal-feed barley prices in Europe have been rising, now matching or even surpassing milling wheat prices. This unusual trend is driven by strong export demand and tight supply, according to the same source.
