Tunisia expands its olive oil export markets

Tunisia is in an advanced phase of negotiations with the United States to review customs duties imposed on its exports, announced Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti.

The goal is to facilitate access for Tunisian olive oil to the U.S. market and strengthen its competitiveness against major global producers, according to Mosaique FM.

In the same vein, similar talks with Indonesia have also reached an advanced stage, paving the way for a stronger Tunisian presence in one of Asia’s largest markets.

Tunisia is likewise pursuing efforts with other countries in the region, notably China, Japan, South Korea, and India, to expand outlets and diversify its trade partners.

The minister stressed that Latin America has become a new priority despite intense competition.

In this context, Tunisia is finalizing last adjustments with Brazil, where full exemption from customs duties is expected to take effect in March 2026, marking a strategic turning point for the sector.
