Since the night of Sunday, January 4, 2025, production at the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG) in the Mdhilla region has been completely stopped, affecting all extraction and washing sites, according to Express FM.
The halt follows a protest by employees over deteriorating working conditions and occupational safety.
The protest comes after the death of a worker on Saturday, caused by severe injuries sustained in a workplace accident at Washery No. 3.
The incident sparked strong anger among workers, who are demanding a thorough investigation, accountability, and urgent measures to ensure their safety.
