Tunisia: Increase in internet service revenues driven by impact of 5G

Indicators published by the National Telecommunications Authority (INT) for April 2026 show an improvement in the financial and technological performance of Tunisia’s telecommunications sector, driven by positive results recorded more than a year after the official rollout of 5G networks (February 2025).

The data reveals a notable increase in the combined turnover of the three telecom operators (including internet service providers).

Revenue reached 313.6 million dinars in April 2026, compared to 301.0 million dinars in April 2025 and 290.2 million dinars in April 2024.

The indicators also show that the fixed wireless internet market (5G FWA) experienced a sharp rise in subscribers, reaching 298,717 users, marking an 8% monthly increase compared to March 2026.

This continues a strong upward trend since December 2025 (210,057 subscribers), representing a significant jump from the early phase of the rollout in February 2025 (9,425 subscribers).

Average data consumption on fixed wireless access (FWA) stabilized at 345 gigabytes per subscriber, slightly down by 1% compared to April 2025 (351 gigabytes).

In mobile internet services, developments were also significant. Although total mobile internet activations declined by 11% (29.1 million activations versus 32.8 million in April 2025), revenues increased by 7%, reaching 98.9 million dinars.

The INT attributed the rise in revenues, despite the drop in total activations, to growing demand for high-capacity subscriptions (25 GB and above), which alone generated 52.8 million dinars.

In contrast, low-capacity subscriptions declined, reflecting the shift in user demand toward higher speeds and greater data volumes enabled by 5G technology.
