The Tabarka–Aïn Draham region is seeing a surge of announcements regarding major investments and tourism projects. Large sums, approved permits, and announced partnerships suggest a dynamic momentum, at least on paper.
Yet, the gap between planning and execution often remains decisive. While the structural projects and the reactivation of the airport reflect a desire for transformation, their real impact will depend on effective implementation.
In this interview, regional delegate Aïssa Marouani (pictured) details the progress of these projects and the conditions necessary to turn these ambitions into tangible results.
Question: What is the situation of tourism investments in the governorate of Jendouba?
The governorate of Jendouba concentrates the largest share of tourism investments at the national level. Projects planned in the region represent a total volume of approximately 1 billion dinars.
Where does the Costa Coralis project stand?
The Costa Coralis project is the largest tourism project in the country, with a cost exceeding 1.9 billion dinars. It has made significant progress. Its file, after obtaining approval from the National Investment Commission, is currently being submitted to the Presidency for final review.
Ongoing projects and achievements
What about the development project for the “Al-Hisn” tourist trail?
The “Al-Hisn” tourist trail project is estimated at around 1.4 million dinars. It includes the restoration of a 600-meter section, the installation of rainwater drainage, and public lighting.
Work is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2026, with financing provided by the Ministry of Tourism.
What are the main hotel projects currently underway?
There are essentially four hotels. First, the “Al-Farnan” hotel, with a capacity of about 100 beds, equipped with a freshwater treatment station, a multipurpose hall, and an indoor swimming pool.
The completion rate is 65%, with a cost of 22 million dinars and commissioning scheduled for 2026.
Then there is the La Forêt hotel, opened in 2025. There is also the Green Hill Resorts, which had a partial opening, all with an investment of 16.8 million dinars.
The Bel Horizon hotel (Tabarka), where the completion rate has reached 95% for a cost of 26 million dinars. And finally,
The Aqua Resort Tabarka, with a completion rate of 78% and a total cost of 200 million dinars. The opening is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
What permits have been granted recently?
Since February 13, 2026, several construction permits have been approved:
A leisure center in the Al-Marjane district, for a cost of 1.7 million dinars.
A tourist residential complex, with an estimated cost of 11 million dinars.
What about the 5-star hotel renovation project?
A 5-star hotel renovation project is being carried out by the Qatari company Al-Majida Investment, costing 300 million dinars, with 350 beds on 8.5 hectares.
A construction permit application will be submitted to the competent authorities soon.
What are the prospects for the tourism sector in the region?
Tourism indicators improved in 2025, with increases in visitor numbers, overnight stays, and hotel occupancy rates.
The official also mentioned the reactivation of Tabarka–Aïn Draham Airport, the launch of irregular tourist flights from certain European countries (notably Poland and the Czech Republic) and enhanced air connectivity to further energize the destination.
