Tunisia: Bayahi Group will remain key shareholder of SOTUVER

The entry of BA Glass, a global leader in the glass packaging industry, into the capital of the Tunisian Glassware Company (SOTUVER) had already marked a major industrial turning point.

However, questions around governance remained unanswered. The Bayahi Group has now provided a clear response: it will retain at least 41% of the company’s capital.

Far from a simple exit, the move is shaping up as a strategic partnership between two complementary forces. Bayahi Group will continue as a reference shareholder, ensuring continuity in the company’s strategic vision.

In what is likely the most reassuring news for markets, local partners, and employees alike, the Tunisian group’s operational involvement remains intact. Under the agreement, the position of General Manager will continue to be held by a representative of the Bayahi Group.

“The Bayahi Group will remain a reference shareholder in SOTUVER, fully involved in its management and development,” the group told financial news platform Ilboursa.

With BA Glass bringing its international firepower, combined with Bayahi’s historic expertise and managerial stability, SOTUVER is positioned as a potentially unbeatable player in the region.

This hybrid configuration, blending global expertise with strong local roots—appears to be the preferred scenario for propelling SOTUVER to new levels of growth while securing the Tunisian identity of the company.
