Tunisia aims to reduce carbon intensity by 62% by 2035

Tunisia aims to reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by 46.4% by 2030 and by 62% by 2035 compared to the 2010 baseline year.

These targets are outlined in Tunisia’s third “Nationally Determined Contribution” (NDC 3.0), which was presented last week to climate stakeholders in Tunisia, according to Mosaique FM.

This new roadmap, submitted to the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in September 2025, follows the commitments made in the initial 2015 NDC and its updated 2021 version.

NDC 3.0 represents a major step toward accelerating the decarbonization of the Tunisian economy, aligning the country with a carbon neutrality trajectory by 2050, and strengthening its resilience to climate change.

It reflects the authorities’ determination to implement an ambitious, transparent, fair, and inclusive climate policy.
