Exports of seafood products edged up 42.9% in value and 32.6% in volume, until June 2019.
These exports reached 14,671.4 tons worth 298.1 million dinars against 208.6 million during the same period in 2018, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
Crab exports increased in volume by about 94%. Canned tuna grew by 292.2% and sardines by 68.8%, according to the same source.
Tunisia’s exports of frozen crabs reached 2,052.4 tons in the same period, i.e. a value of 18.4 MD, compared to 1471.6 tons in 2018 (9.5 MD)
Sea bream exports reached 1,960.2 tons, or 24.2 MD.
Tunisian seafood products were exported to 45 countries including Italy (33.2%), Spain (16%), Japan (11.8%), Malta (9.1%), Libya (8.2%), Saudi Arabia (3.4%), Jordan (2.9%), South Korea (1.8%), France (1.8%) and the United Arab Emirates (1.6%).
