Tunisia–Algeria: New investment opportunities

Chadli May, Director General for Cooperation with Arab Countries at the Ministry of Trade and Export Development, announced during the Tunisian-Algerian Forum on Investment and Trade held in Gafsa that his ministry has recently completed a study on the creation of a free trade zone along the Tunisian-Algerian border, according to Express FM.

He stated that the study has been submitted to the Algerian side and revealed that a joint Tunisian-Algerian working group dedicated to the development of border regions has been established.

The group will be tasked with examining and selecting the most suitable strategic location for the project.

According to the official, the joint team will also work on defining the mechanisms needed to ensure the success of the future free zone and achieve its economic and development objectives.

The project aims in particular to boost trade exchanges between Tunisia and Algeria, encourage investment, and create new development and employment opportunities in the border regions of both countries.
