BCT strives to set up adequate mechanisms to guarantee post-Covid-19 recovery

The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) is working with the banking sector, not only to rescue enterprises, but also to set up adequate mechanisms to guarantee the post-Covid-19 recovery, said BCT Governor Marouane El Abassi.

Speaking during the 5th weekly meeting with the senior bank officials held on Monday by videoconference, he added that in complementarity with the national effort, the BCT is endeavouring to provide the necessary support to enterprises and individuals.

For his part, Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh urged credit institutions to redouble efforts to ensure the speed required in the processing of files, given the particularity of the economic situation, and to ensure adequate funding to boost investment, commending the support provided by banks to both enterprises and individuals.

President of the Tunisian Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (APTBEF) Habib Bel Haj Kouider underlined the total commitment of the sector to support the various fringes of its customers while specifying that banks are aware of the expectations and needs of their customers and that they are redoubling efforts to provide adequate responses.
