Central Africa to get revised merchant navy and civil aviation codes

Experts from member states of the Economic and Monetary Community for Central Africa (CEMAC) on Monday began meeting in Brazzaville to examine the revised versions of the community code for the CEMAC merchant navy and civil aviation that will be submitted to the council of ministers for approval and adoption.

The meeting follows two others held in March and April last year in the Congolese capital when experts from the community made amendments for several measures of the code for CEMAC merchant navy and civil aviation.

The Congolese deputy minister for merchant navy, Martin Parfait Aimé Coussoud Mavoungou, who chaired the opening ceremony expressed the wish for the finalization of two codes.

The community code for the CEMAC merchant navy sets the rules applicable to ships, maritime navigation, maritime transport, maritime pollution, sea jobs and auxiliary professions.

About the civil aviation code, it sets the rules regulating the organization of the sector, airports, air navigation, civil aircrafts, air safety and security and airport staff.

“The codes for civil aviation and merchant navy are important papers which contribute to the promotion and improvement of respective services of air transport and merchant navy in Central Africa,” the CEMAC commissioner for infrastructure and sustainable development, Bernard Zoba said
