Etihad announces new flights to 10 global destinations, Including Tunisia

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has unveiled plans to launch 10 new direct routes from Abu Dhabi to key destinations across Asia, Africa, and the United States. Among these are flights to Tunis, Hong Kong, Atlanta, marking a significant expansion in the airline’s global network.

The new routes, part of Etihad’s ambitious growth strategy for 2024, come as Chief Executive Antonoaldo Neves anticipates the company’s busiest year to date. The airline is already selling tickets for seven destinations in Asia, two in Africa, and Atlanta on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard.

Flights to Tunis, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, Hanoi, and Algiers are set to commence in November, while services to Taipei in northern Taiwan will begin in September. Additional routes to Medan, Phnom Penh, and Krabi are scheduled to launch in October. Tickets for all these new destinations are now available for purchase.

Neves attributed the airline’s rapid expansion to the recent upgrade of Zayed International Airport, emphasizing its role in facilitating a surge in passenger capacity and flight operations.

“In 2025, we’re going to have 21 million passengers,” he said. “And departures will go from 56,000 in 2022 to more than 100,000, something that would never have been possible at the old terminal.”
