EU, EIB delegations shortly in Tunis

Delegations from the European Union and the European Investment Bank (EIB) will be visiting Tunisia, shortly, to study concrete co-operation agreements, particularly in support of small and medium enterprises (SMEs),” said Mr. Joanna Drake, EU Director for the Promotion of Competitiveness.

She presented, at a working session held in Tunis with Minister of Industry and Trade Mohamed Lamine Chakhari, “different mechanisms of industrial co-operation likely to back up development of SMEs in Tunisia and support efforts of the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation, particularly at the regional level.

Her visit to Tunisia aims to “identify needs of Tunisian enterprises to bring them appropriate support and materialize the European Union’s support for the Tunisian Revolution in a concrete and visible way.”

Mr. Chakhari said, for his part, that “the needs of Tunisian enterprises in this new economic phase relate, in particular, to strengthening industrial competitiveness, encouraging technological innovation and accessing funding sources to break into foreign markets.”
