Germany has donated 13 million euros, or more than 8.5 billion F CFA, to Togo through the Development Bank of Germany (KfW) for the construction of a by-pass around the city of Lome, PANA learnt from official sources.
According to officials, the by-pass will boost local and regional traffic of goods and people, and ensure the country’s economic development.
The by-pass will make it possible for trucks leaving the Port of Lome to avoid the downtown and take the trunk road 1 that serves the hinterland countries (Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger).
The finance contract was signed by the Togolese Minister of Economy and Finance, Adjih Othet Ayassor, and the KfW Representative, Mrs. Jutta Herbig-Lang
