Japan grants Tunisia 358 MTD in loans

The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) granted Tunisia two loans worth nearly 358 million dinars (MTD).

The first loan agreement signed by the “Société Tunisie Autoroutes,” worth nearly 291 MTD, provides for financing the Gabès-Medenine Trans-Maghreb highway construction project, to ease the circulation of persons and goods from the capital to this region.

The second loan agreement, signed with the National Water Distribution and Exploitation Facility (SONEDE) for an amount worth nearly 117 MTD, is meant to fund the restoration and expansion works of drinking water facilities in Tunisia’s urban centers.

It aims at reinforcing the capacity of the drinking-water distribution network in 19 governorates, including Sidi Bouzid, Kasserine, Kef, Jendouba and Gafsa.
