The European Union (EU) and Mauritania are to set up a joint scientific committee which will assess, in details, the fish stock in the Mauritanian waters, the European commission indicated here Monday in press release.
The current fisheries agreement between EU and Mauritania excludes the Spanish boats fishing mainly cephalopods, a group of mulluscs that includes octopuses, cuttlefish, squid and the chambered nautilus.
The committee will be tasked with finding ways and means to enhance the fish stock of the West African country.
