Mauritanian judge issues arrest warrants against 3 “Mauritanie Airways” officials

A Mauritanian court Friday issued an international arrest warrants against three officials of the Mauritania-based private airline, “Mauritanie Airways”, Judiciary sources told PANA on Friday.

The three officials are the former General Manager of the airline, Moncef Ben Badis, and former staff member Ridha Jmael (both Tunisians) as well as Mauritanian Mohamed Lemine Ould Deidah, also a former staff.

The warrants followed the arrest and detention on Tuesday of Mohamed Ould Debagh, a former chairman of the airline’s management board.

The three former officials are accused of “embezzling company funds, forgery, and abuse of public properties”.

Tunis Air, the Mauritanian government and Mauritanian businessman Mohamed Ould Bouamatou are shareholders in Mauritanie Airways.
