Mauritius: Air Mauritius posts net profit of 7.3 million euro

The Mauritian aviation company, Air Mauritius, posted at net profit of 7.3 million euro for financial year 2013/2014 (April to March).

Its turnover for the period was 459 million euro, a 2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to a communiqué published on Sunday in Port-Louis.

Air Mauritius said it had harvested the fruits of its reform programme launched in February 2012 that affected its networks, commercial strategy, resource optimization, costs and assets as well as quality of service and the fleet of its planes.

“This positive result confirms that our strategy was good and it has allowed the company to behave well in this difficult economic environment,” Dass Thomas, chairman of the Air Mauritius Board said.

Air Mauritius transported a total of 1.33 million passengers during the period 2013/2014, representing a 2.6 per cent increase on the same period last year.

According to the communiqué, Air Mauritius is presently working on the renewal of its fleet of planes.
