Morocco, UAE sign agreement for Morocco’s thermal power station

Morocco and the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday signed a n agreement in Fès for the construction of two supplementary production units at

the thermal power station of Jorf Lasfar at the cost of 10 billion dirhams, offi c ial sources in Rabat said.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Morocco’s King Mohammed VI and the Cr own prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The two production units will be added to the four existing ones and they will e ach have a capacity of 350 megawatts.

The project is to equip the Moroccan Electricity Company with production needed to secure Morocco’s electricity supply.

The four existing units of the power generate enough power to cover nearly half the country’s electricity needs.
