NDIC organises seminar on bank liquidation for judges in Nigeria

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) is collaborating with the National Judicial Institute (NJI) to organise a one-day sensitization seminar on 27 June for judges and other key stakeholders on Bank liquidation, according to a statement made available to PANA by the NDIC.

The seminar which holds in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city, will be declared open by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher (GCON). Its theme will be “The Challenges to Deposit Insurance Law and Practice in Nigeria”.

One of the primary objectives of the sensitization seminar is to brainstorm on the ways to improve the administration of justice towards effective implementation of deposit insurance system (DIS) in Nigeria.

“Eminent jurists and legal luminaries from the bar and the bench, the banking sector and the academia have been invited to the seminar as chairmen, discussants and paper presenters on legal and technical issues on bank liquidation”, the statement added.

The seminar is expected to draw participants from the NDIC Board and Management, judges from the Federal, State High Courts and Appellate Courts, the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and the National Judicial Institute.

Other participants that are scheduled to attend the seminar are representatives of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Ministries of Justice and Finance
