Nearly 500 Tunisian participants in first edition of SKYS

Nearly 500 Tunisian participants have the opportunity to experience skydiving for the first time during the SKYS event, organised on October 27-November 27, 2021 in the desert of Tozeur.

It is a new approach to alternative tourism, which has drawn a large audience to enjoy a unique experience in the heart of the Sahara desert.

Actually, whether it is the climate or the landscape of Tunisia, all the factors are there for skydiving to be a golden opportunity to be exploited for the tourism sector.

In fact, SKYS has contributed to the increase in the hotels’ occupancy rate, the opening of the Tozeur-Nefta International Airport and to the boosting of the craft industry through the promotion of local products within the tourist village set up during the whole period of the event, said the event’s organisers.

“SKYS has succeeded in making the perfect combination between alternative tourism, rural and extreme sport. By proposing a new sport activity in Tunisia, through civil skydiving but also by getting away from the usual and often “overcrowded” regions. An initiative encouraged by tourism professionals and which attracts more tourists.”

“SKYS is also an international event that attracted several nationalities as it has brought together tourists, extreme sport enthusiasts and skydiving enthusiasts from France, Belgium, Canada and Dubai.”

Apart from skydiving, the participants have been offered the opportunity to discover other possible activities in Tozeur, such as quad biking, sledging on the sand dunes, camel rides and even the discovery of the art of tying a shawl, a wide range of activities open to all and providing an incredible experience.

Given the success of this new style of alternative and sustainable tourism and the advantages it has offered for the region, event organiser “Unisky Area” announces the second edition of SKYS next year, “in an even more incredible location with even more surprises, to make skydiving a culture, a state of mind and a way of life.”
