‘Nigeria exports plastics products worth US$80m in 2010’

Nigerian manufacturing companies exported plastics products worth US$80.4 million in 2010, the private Punch newspaper reported Thursday, quoting the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC).

The figure represents an increase of 13.72 per cent over the exports in the previous year, which stood at US$70.7 million.

NEPC’s Director, Trade Information, Mr. Aliyu Lawal, was quoted as saying the products were exported largely to West African countries, especially Liberia, Ghana, Benin and Cote d’Ivoire.

The products include poly bags, plastic cards, plastic sheets, composite pipes, plastic tubes, automotive plastic products and plastic articles.

About 163 plastic companies are currently operating in Nigeria
