Production resumes at Libya’s Al-Fil oil field

Oil production has resumed at Libya’s Al-Fil, after a two-month break due to protests by the locals in the area, who are demand the development of their region, Ministry of Oil and Gas spokesman Tarek al-Duaai said.

Al-Duaai told journalists that the ministry had initiated contacts with representatives of the protesters, leading to a pact that ended the sit-in.

Residents of the cities of Obari and Marzak are demanding the use of part of the profits from the oil sales from the Al-Fil to develop their region and provide the security agents there with appropriate equipment to enable them to carry out their duties.

The oil field has the capacity to produce 75,000 barrels per day.
